PropertyChat turns 4 years old today! Happy birthday to us.

We now have over 692,000 posts - up 21% from this time last year, plus 16,900 validated members - up 29% from this time last year.

We actually just passed the 20,000 registered user mark in the past week or so - but that includes all deleted, banned and inactive users, so we don't generally publicise that figure since it isn't representative of actual users.

Interestingly, as I'm writing this we have exactly 33,333 threads on PropertyChat. That's a nice number!

I am still really busy working on the upgrade to the next version of the forum software - a project I started well over 12 months ago! I had been expecting to have the site upgraded well before now - but it's turned out that there's a lot more work I've had to do than I originally anticipated (I've coined a new term: worm hole-age ... which is where you open a can of worms and then throw it down a rabbit hole to see how deep it goes).

I'll post some forum stats over the next few days.

EDIT - here is an overview of some key stats:

    1. Overview as of 18th June 2019:
    • 4 years since launch
    • 21,252 users registered
    • 33,294 threads started
    • 697,219 posts written
    • 17,809 valid members have been permitted to post
    • 9,165 users have posted
    • 51.5% of our valid members have posted
    • 76.1 posts made per user, on average
    • 84 members have made 50% of all posts
    • 0.9% of posting users have made 50% of all posts
    • 9,081 members made the other 50% of posts

Congrats! Your Chatswood Meet-up should have been scheduled for tonight instead of tomorrow.

Yes, except the kids have Spanish lessons on Tuesdays so we don't get home until late.

    Well done

I distinctly recall hearing much doom that a paid or advertised site like this would NOT work for us "special " people .

I never did get around to posting the anniversary stats back in June.

Here are the stats from launch to the 18th June 2019 - 4 year anniversary.

    2. Posts per day (28 day moving averages)

    upload_2020-1-16_20-3-45.png

APRA effect really noticeable through 2018 and into 2019.

December is always quiet - although the Dec 2018 dip was quite low.

Notice the April 2019 dip pre-election! I think most people had just about given up on the property market by then - wasn't until late May that we started to pick up again. It will be interesting to see the 2019 annual stats which I'll do a bit later - to see if the post-election upswing continued.

Somersoft started in 1999, just over 20 years ago.

I joined in 2000 and took over running it in late 2002, so it's just over 17 years that I've been running these property websites.

Still surviving well in the FB era.. well done!

Do you have your own written forum software, or use an "off the shelf" solution ?

Yup - once all the n00bs return, it's on for young and old.

We used to get 50+ people at meetups - most of them new investors and really keen. Not happening like that anymore - APRA had a huge impact.

Well done Simon, congratulations to your efforts and thanks. I benefited heaps since joining, including browsing through old Somersoft posts. Suddenly realise some things never change when comes to property investment!
