    Hi all,

Just wanting to know if anyone knows if you can build on top of QLD Urban Utilities sewer pipes. This is the property map of interest - a post-war Queenslander with the option to demolish and build new.

    Thanks,

    Sammy

    Hi BrisbaneInvestor,

It is possible to bridge over the sewer infrastructure via a Build Over Sewer application, however it will require review by an engineer to confirm this is possible in your circumstance. You would need to be approx 1200mm clear of property connection/manhole locations as well generally speaking.

    Thanks
    Matt

Yep. What Matt said. You can generally build over a sewer pipe with a BOS application (assuming the new building work won't affect the sewer pipe). However, you need to make sure that you don't plan on building over the existing sewer connection (the little orange stub on the map you attached). Worst case scenario, you will just need to relocate this sewer connection closer to the side boundary.

Just asking as I’m looking at a place built over a sewer pipeline, what happens if the infrastructure owner needs to service or replace a pipe that is built over?
