Does anyone know if it's possible to search by name if a person owns property?

Can it only be done by a registered professional or can the average person do it? Do you know how much it cost to get a professional to do the search?

Anyone could do it. Go to the relevant land titles webpage in the state you want to search. Keep in mind that there is nothing to distinguish people with the same names.

Alternatively find someone with RP data who may be able to search for you.

You should also do an ASIC search and find out if the person is a company director. Then search the same companies for their land holding.

It won’t guarantee you find everything - but it can find the next level.

You can do it in NSW. There were fees last time I did that type of search, and as per Terryw above, if there are people with the same name you may need to search all of them.

If you know address of a property they do own it may be simpler - I can't confirm that as the last one I did was a unique name, the one before that was father & son with the same names but I needed both anyway.

Thanks so much Ross. What site did you use? I can't for the life of me find where to go. Happy to pay a little eg. $50 or so. Shouldn't be anyone with the same name so should be fine in that respect.

    Thanks Qak,
    What site did you use?
I accidentally addressed my last post to Ross instead of you. My apologies.

Info Track can be helpful for a comprehensive search for a person and their interests / tenancies and other data. Still a bit hit and miss.

NSW closed off ability to name search many records as it was being used by criminals to track cops and protected persons etc. Ex spouses etc.
