    Hi @Vasa

The thing with any service you recruit is how to define that the service has been delivered and whether it was successful.

Is a mentoring service deemed successful provided that the nominated year has elapsed and you had a few nice chats? If all the agreement was for was a year's access to this person then it could be argued they've fulfilled their duty to you by having a chat at the agreed times.

It's very difficult to measure whether you have achieved/learned what you need in order to take you forward. As such if you decide to go with such a service you need to be really clear on what you'll be learning so that you have a yardstick to measure when you feel you've gotten to where you need to be in the learning stakes.

My dad told me long ago "if your wealth grows and you don't, I will be terribly disappointed". Stuck with me for life.

This is truly a great forum and contains an endless fountain of knowledge. I am really eager to get into property investing and I am trying to learn as much as I can. Sometimes its hard to know where to start. How did you guys put together a great team and avoid being lead astray when you started out? I could do with a mentor LOL

    Just keep reading, researching, learning...
It will all come together over time, just a matter of how much you want to dedicate to it.

Best way I know is to leverage others with some experience – ask for recommendations from people who have had great experiences with property managers, brokers etc.

Nah....don't do it. I have a much better idea...
Buy $10K worth of really great wine. Then pour yourself a nice glass and read every book you can get your hands on. Start with Jan Somers.
Or put that $10k towards a property!
