The good thing about using Internode - I also use Internode and so will notice any problems pretty quickly :D

It would also help if you could show a traceroute ... on Windows:

    tracert propertychat.com.au

... and paste the output here, so I can identify where the congestion or packet loss seems to be happening.

When did you first notice the problem? Did it start last night? What time?

Around lunchtime here, too. Using Telstra.

    Seems OK now.

It started about 10am Saturday and came good around 2ish that arvo.

There were no "time out" messages, it just hung there trying to load.

BTW I am actually about 250ks from the Toorak location stated in post #20, don't know if that matters.

I was in Adelaide yesterday morning using hotel/airport lounge WiFi and it was fine but using Telstra in Cairns around midday, it was impossible to log on.

It's quite likely that none of the other sites these people visit are hosted in the same datacenter - so assuming the problem is somewhere on the network between Australia and Sinagpore, it's not really surprising that they were having problems with PropertyChat but no other sites.

There are multiple network paths between Australia and Singapore - depending on which one your particular ISP uses to route traffic to and from that location will determine whether you have problems while your next door neighbour using a different ISP may have no problems at all because their network traffic goes a different path.

Here are the undersea cables between Australia and Singapore out of Perth:
    • ASC (Australia-Singapore Cable): Perth - Indonesia - Singapore
    • SeaMeWe-3: Perth to just about everywhere (Telstra are part owners of this cable)
    • APX-West: Perth - Sinagpore (part owned by Telstra too, but won't be online until 2018)
Some traffic also goes via the east coast of Australia, typically routed via Guam (it's also possible to route traffic via the USA or Hawaii, which is going to be rather slow).
    • PPC-1 (PIPE Pacific Cable-1): Sydney - Guam
    • AAG (Asia-America Gateway Cable System): California to Singapore via Hawaii, Guam, Philippines, Hong Kong (Telstra have a stake in this too)
    • AJC (Australia-Japan Cable): Sydney-Japan with a branch to Guam (Telstra have a stake in this one too)
Interestingly, last week iiNet were routing me via Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth to get to Singapore via the west coast, but now my traffic is going out of Sydney via Hong Kong (presumably via Guam).

A lot of these changes are probably dynamic based on local congestion - if the Perth-Singapore link is congested, they'll automatically flip east coast users to go via Guam and Hong Kong.

Yes mine was very slow, but it was a cold and wet day in Brisbane. I just figured everyone was rugged up and surfing the net.
    Back to normal today.

I cannot help you with my ISP details (what is an ISP anyway?)... but if it helps at all Simon, I am situated in my office, at the back of the house near the pool. :D:p

ISP = Internet Service Provider = the company you buy internet access from (eg Telstra, Optus, iiNet, TPG, Internode, etc)

Thanks. I thought it was more helpful that you knew I was at the back of the house near the pool though :p.

But if it helps, and I'm being serious now, I'm with Optus via cable.

I don't know why but our modern is downstairs and I connect directly to that modern via an ethernet cable because wifi is patchy through a core filled wall. Our son downstairs comments all the time if he is upstairs helping me with my computer that mine is much slower than his right next to the modem. I wonder why that is, when I'm connected via ethernet cable? Any ideas?
