Hi guys,

What are the best websites to rent property directly as a landlord?

I don't want to use an agent but as I am not a real estate agent I am not able to list on domain or realestate.com.au.

I used to previously list on gumtree but was wondering what other websites/platforms I should consider.

I have the time and capacity to rent it myself instead of using an agent and have done so in the past so am aware of all the requirements. I just need to understand the best mediums to list and find tenants really.

 

I haven't rented privately for the last 20 years but a sign out the front of the home with a phone number used to yield good results back in the day, I see a few advertised on Facebook market place from time to time.

 

• Pay an agent a week's rent to find a tenant & prepare a compliant lease
• Plenty of websites which will list for you on both domain and re.com.au

It's not cheap so another avenue would be to go via a "for sale by owner" platform like this: Rent Out My House: Residential Rental Packages

One thing to watch out will be making sure your tenancy contract is rock solid so you don't get into issues when there are arrears/evictions taking place. Each to their own, but I'd personally just fork up the money.

Many agents offer a letting only service, and before they advertise on all the major websites, they may have a tenant of their database. This would be an ideal outcome and would save time and advertising cost.
