Is your TV going to go above the fireplace or somewhere else?

Above. There will be a mantle between the fireplace and TV to protect against heat damage

I love the tv above fireplace look - I'm not getting it at my place but I've seen it really nicely done. Are you going to make a recess for the tv so it's flush or just mount on top? I know; I ask a million questions :p

Which of the trades are from Airtasker, and where did you find the others?
And were the ones you used via Airtasker a lot cheaper?

Too late for a recess. I decided against it because it limits screen size upgrades. I can use anything between 55, 65, 75 and even up to 86 inch screen on that wall. If you go for a recess you are limited by said recess.

The practical purpose of the recess is to shield the TV's panel from too much heat. Can do the same using a mantle ( plaster is best, as wood is combustible) and not lose the flexibility of screen size.

Want to go with 75, but they dont make OLED screens in 75 .... yet. Looks like it will be 65 . First world problem :)

Handy hint - make sure you have the gyprockers cut a small service door into the side of the frame... you still need to be able to get in behind the TV for power, HDMI, ethernet etc... unless you are happy running all cables externally.... um, no thanks.

I used Airtasker for demolition only. The guys who did the demolition work were plumbers and electricians who would drop by after work, between other jobs etc. So yes its a great money saver , but only if you have plenty of time. If you need work done fast, get a professional in to do it.

I would recommend Airtasker for small(ish) jobs that are beyond a persons DIY skills... I think its a really handy app/ service for that kind of thing. But I dont think you could do a reno of this scale in a reasonable amount of time using Airtasker... the people who bid on jobs on Airtasker tend to be tradies who use it to pick up side work "between other jobs" well, thats what I found anyway. The airtasker experience was positive overall though... but as I said, its best used for smaller jobs, not big reno's like this.

I found a great plumber on hipages though... youngish guy who had just gone out on his own and started his own business and keen for work .... cut my plumbing bill almost in half and has been really reliable and quick to get things done.

with facade fitted. @Westminster if you look carefully you can see some masking tape on the wall.

Inner rectangle is 65 inch TV mock up. outer rectangle is 75 inch TV mock up.

Great tx for the info - might tap you on the shoulder re: the plumber in the near future for a fairly extensive reno I'm considering doing.

Ah I see it now in this closer picture.

I think if you are having a mantle in between I'd move the tv a smidgen higher but that's my opinion and from my angle here.

Good point you don't want a crick in your neck.

I took a better photo of my island bench for you (and the fireplace - couldn't resist) IMG_6141.JPG IMG_6142.JPG

It's 3200mm x 1400mm. I didn't want a join in the stone so we waited and found the largest slab we could. There are some composite stones that are now available in that size but our island is galaxy black granite so it was a bit hard to find one that size. We actually wanted larger but could only wait so long and the chances of finding something longer than 3200mm was going to be very slim.
