Wife painted the cabinet this week and distressed it. I reckon it looks pretty cool. Will be nice to have some color in the house.

Hi Tim, can't believe how much your reno has come along, looks fantastic. Just a quick question, did you get OB Insurance when you started your works? I have been looking into it and wondered whether it was worth it. Our project is finally starting in May, no turning back!

Love it.. 50m drop from the top deck, gaps in the floorboards, no balustrade, but the dinning table and chairs are set up :D

Ill be honest...dont know anything about owner builder insurance lol.

No one else goes on the site. Except a plumber for 2 days and maybe someone to build my internal stairs. So not much scope for tradies to hurt themselves etc...

Its only a 9m fall. And the ground is pretty soft with all this rain we've been having...

Those were original floorboards. Just mixed hardwood. So maybe some jarrah mixed in there. I did a rubbish job of sanding them. Used a belt sander and it did a real uneven job. Going to have to go back over them with an orbital.

Fair enough :) I was told by our Insurer that our current home and contents policy still covers our existing house because we are not removing roof, walls or floor. Lifting and building in under is ok. I guess its a gamble if you think anything will get stolen or damaged, but really comes down to how well you look after your site!

Did you find someone to do your internal stairs yet? I'm avoiding it! haha

I emailed heaps of people and have only gotten one quote back so far. 4000 incl gst for kwila stairs no baulaustrades needed. 3.4m height they have to go up to. So i think that sounds reasonable.

That's pretty good! We have a 3m height for ours, but want a single stringer, open riser, with platform turn around.

WOW !!! that's a great progress.....Given the house is set at a height, are you going to put anything underneath it or just close it off...?
