@chylld What software did you use to create that image?

@Depreciator - good idea for the tupperware drawer! I'm always losing lids.

Maya - it's horrible for CAD and I don't recommend it; I just have a knack for it as I used to do a lot of 3D animation for TV ads / short movies :)

Jess - some black here for you. Galaxy black (I think) caeserstone with highlights, black tinted pendants, black glass splash back & powerpoints. Undermount sink & deep butlers pantry at rear. Raked ceiling provides extra height & impact.

I've got a new kitchen going into the new PPOR - work starts this Friday. I'll post some pics once it's done.....only if it's good of course :)

    Cheers

I used this kitchen as some inspiration for a 1 bedroom townhouse kitchen I'm building at the moment. I don't have an island bench but everything is similar to this along the wall with integrated fridges and two rows of overheads for extra storage.
It's black surrounds, black benchtop and Polytec Natural Oak first layer of overheads and a wooden tile chevron splashback.
I can't wait to see it finished.

@Jess Peletier I have 4 very wide shallow drawers in my kitchen - one for cutlery, other for utensils, another for gladwrap/foil etc and the last for spices
    Then underneath 2 deeper drawers.

Drawer dividers - METOD interior fittings - IKEA

Then go to Ikea or kmart and get the drawer organisers and life is much better

yup all our drawers are 900mm or more wider - so much more useful.

Another black kitchen 20130820_201507.jpg All draws, and pull out pantry, with the exception of the corner under the water filter (it's our "junk cupboard") accessed from the other side.
Also put in a pop up power outlet due to lack of wall area.
Stove is a 1.5, the half oven heats quickly and is great for smaller things.
Induction cooktop is 4 elements wide, so no reaching over to the back pots, and blends into the bench very well.
Light switches in the end of the bench are backlit blue, makes them easier to find in the dark....

Kitchens are such a big investment (I should know- I've changed ours in every house we've been in as well as modifications to most IPs over the years:D) and once again I'm looking to revamp in the old house we recently moved into. Some of you may recall my previous house's new classic country kitchen that I absolutely LOVED (see pic and it had that spice drawer!) but am ready for something new now.... here we go again! It's all good fun but one day I do plan to move into a PPOR where I don't need to touch the kitchen or bathrooms AT ALL....

My absolute musts for a new kitchen would include deep soft close drawers (as many as possible) double sink, well-placed lighting, extra wide cutlery drawers, integrated bin drawer, as big a pantry as possible, central island (with power points hidden on side) external vented rangehood, induction cooktop (I love this more than gas) and dishwasher drawers.... the list goes on but at the end of the day $$$ come into it!

Love yours @Westminster it's going to be beautiful :) DSC_2684.JPG

@Jacque I loved your kitchen when you did it and I took quite a bit of inspiration from it! Unfortunately I wanted grey and white but hubby wanted black so there was a compromise with a black, white and oak kitchen. I couldn't get any pressed tin into mine :(

I think I have all your wish list ticked :) The only thing different is that I've gone for a special sink which is extra wide rather than 2 bowls so that I can wash my big pans/trays in it.

I love the look of undermount sinks but just don't understand them on a practical level - we always seem to have things draining and I'd hate to have wet things sitting on the bench. And those grooved stone tops just seem like a dirt trap to me. We'll probably go with a boring normalish sink - but definitely big and deep.

We were recommended to avoid undermount sinks for 2 reasons:
    • It gets extremely filthy in the gap between the countertop and the sink (have seen this in person, almost threw up)
    • The counter will inevitably get chunks taken out of it as you move big pots/pans into the sink for washing
