It looks like the blockchain power peer to peer networks have started arriving in this country.
Powerledger - it's a peer to peer electricity play using the blockchain.
Power Ledger -A New Decentralised Energy Marketplace - Power Ledger - Where Power meets Blockchain

Its tokens (POWR) are run over the ether network.
    It's garnered some mainstream press

It will be interesting if they get up - after all, with the screwed up nature of the politics surrounding electricity in this country - P2P may be a way to go.
The backers seem respectable and the token is part of real world transactions - electricity.
I kicked in $700 into their pre-ICO. It will be interesting to see how it fares.
It's an interesting application of the blockchain technology that isn't a pure cryptocurrency play.

It looks like it went gangbusters for everyone who got into the ICO.
ICO price was about $0.12. Now it's trading at $1.07o_O

Not bad for Australia's first ICO.
It will be interesting over the next few years to see how it goes

Newbie question- Do you have to buy bitcoin, ethereum, or litecoin to buy POWR? Which provider/ app do you use?

Now we have to consider CGT:(

The easiest is probably from Coinspot Buy & Sell Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Litecoin - CoinSpot where you can buy it for AUD.
Otherwise you can buy it from bitcoin from cryptocurrency exchanges like bittrex, Binance, cryptopia (google them if you wish)
You then should move the tokens into your own erc20 compatible wallet like mist Releases · ethereum/mist · GitHub or myetherwallet MyEtherWallet.com: Your Key to Ethereum
Although I'd warn that at the current prices for a promising but untried idea, it's probably done its dash.
