    Hi,

    I plan to build an attached 2 bed granny flat + Double Garage.

    I wonder if 32 amp sub board would be sufficient for granny flat with 5-6kw A/C or should I go for 40amp?

    Similarly, would 32 amp sub board be enough provision for EV charging in the garage / workshop or should I go for 40amp?

    Main board has 100 amp capacity.

    Thanks!

    I forgot to mention, I will be using Instant gas HWS and gas cooktop. Oven WVE613S is rated 10 amps.

    How do you work out the amp? Daikin 5 to 6kw A/C unit for example, only use 15amp.

    @kennyboi

    6 x 1000W / 240v = too much after beer o'clock. :confused:

    Current is just power divided by voltage 7700w by 230v = 33.5a.
    Don't let the AC kw confuse you, AC's list the cooling/heating capacity not the electrical load. Running current on a 6kw Mitsubishi Electric is about 7.5a (I don't have Daikin specs )

    I'm installing a Tesla car charger tomorrow and its 32a, so you may want to reconsider if your going down that path.

    You probably just want to talk to a local sparky, they can do a Max demand calculation, its not just a case of adding everything up, there are allowances to the fact that you don't use everything at the same time.

    Hi forum members, if you have a granny flat, can I please know how many amp sub board you have in your build, and whether you think it is sufficient? Thanks!
