Loved Logans Run (the TV show, not the movie) - and as morbid as it is, I agree with Mango.

Think of the government finances freed up from less eventual medical dependency, ergo more further enhancing infrastructure projects could be funded ...

Looks like fuel will get even cheaper after big 10% falls in crude after the Russians refused to get involved with opec to keep oil prices artificially high.
Now the Saudis want to flood the market as payback.
But they do have to fund their little wars.

Still a long way from commercial availability if successful, but positive nonetheless.

First coronavirus vaccine trial in the US is recruiting volunteers | Live Science

"Researchers in Seattle have begun recruiting healthy volunteers to participate in a clinical trial for an experimental COVID-19 vaccine, according to news reports.

The vaccine, developed by the biotechnology company Moderna Therapeutics, was initially sent to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Maryland on Feb. 24, according to The Wall Street Journal. The agency anticipates launching a clinical trial by the end of April..."

"Volunteers will be asked to attend 11 in-person study visits over the course of the 14-month study...

Following this initial safety trial, the vaccine's effectiveness must be tested in several subsequent trials in larger groups of people before being distributed widely."

Awesome...... even better... the consumption is at an all time low due to CV...now this.....

Was never a fan of Ruskis and Saudis..... let them go to hell in a handbasket...... :p:D

This will be good as it will keep oil prices super low...which will means transport costs will drop...thus also prices....deflation here we come....

So - 18 months until a vaccine, as predicted by the realists

Yep ....FDA testing is rigorous.....but who know...they might make an exception if thousands fall to CV in the US. But can't see it under 3 months....I reckon the Aussies might get there quicker....

It would have to go very low to bankrupt the saudis, they have deep pockets

A few years ago OPEC lowered the prices to bankrupt the US shale oil industry and at the same time destroyed one of their members Venezuela as their cost of manufacture was higher than the sale price.

The big players tend to come out okay, its the smaller countries that get hammered, governments run out of money with political instability and they can sometimes see a complete breakdown of a central government and the vacuam is filled by minority groups, that sometimes have their own political and religious agenda.

On their bright side, I'll have clocked up over 1000km on my roadie since 1/1/2020.

More people out riding on the roads/less cars about too.

At least cyclists aren't hoarding inner tubes or bar tape.

Maybe we can get 2m between cars and bikes during the CV crisis :D
