"Right Property Group director, Victor Kumar, said the area in and around 60 minutes north of the Brisbane CBD is currently “primed” for growth.

He said there are three main infrastructure drivers influencing the region.

The first is the university in Petrie.

“This is the old paper mill site. The government has taken over a large tract of land, and they are building the largest university in Queensland there.

"And linked to that which is about 30 minutes away is the Caboolture Base Hospital, which they are turning into a teaching hospital.”

Mr Kumar says the third is a further 400 acres of land near to the Petrie university that the government has declared as a priority development area.

“It’s going to have the same impact as Badgerys Creek. They’ve got the town center in the middle and houses all around it, it was the first of its kind. That is what they are trying to do there.”

I’m bullish on the area but comparing it as having “same impact” as Badgerys Creek is a bit of a stretch.

Badgerys Creek is a multi-billion dollar project. The university is certainly nowhere near that scale.

I'm also bullish on the north side of Brissy. Got places in Petrie, Bracken Ridge, Bald Hills and Strathpine.

I've seen these move a bit over the last 12 months. Even got reduced interest rates based on revaluations to reduce LVR. Good sign of whats coming.

I was up at the site a couple of weeks ago to check on the Uni's progress and filmed this video

"The Moreton Bay region, offers affordable housing as well as good rail and road links to Brisbane to the south and the SunshineSunshine, NSWSunshine, VIC Coast (and beyond) to the north. Currently this market is the most active in the Brisbane metropolitan area and likely to deliver good price growth in the near future. A new university campus will bring new economic activity and demand for real estate."

Work starts on new 'unprecedented' USC campus

CONSTRUCTION is set to start on the University of the Sunshine Coast's newest campus which will house more than 1000 students by 2020.

The site, which used to be a paper mill in Petrie, was obtained after USC won the tender, bringing unprecedented access to tertiary education for the Moreton Bay region.

USC will stage a commencement ceremony at the campus at 10am tomorrow, adjacent the Petrie railway station.

Some artists impressions from this link:

Work is now underway at USC Moreton Bay

I’d expect 10-15 years for all stages of the campus to be completed.

Foundation building (below) appears to be the one at far left of the road mage above.

Come 5-10 years time, it'll be hard to believe homes were once available within a 1-2km radius for under $400k.

"Anchored by the new USC Moreton Bay campus, The Mill at Moreton Bay PDA will deliver a world-class innovation and knowledge precinct adjacent to Petrie train station, and is expected to support 6000 jobs, 10,000 university placements and $950 million in economic activity by 2036."

"The Mill will feature Queensland’s first new university campus in over two decades and will act as ground zero when it comes to government, business and industry implementing innovative technologies in the region,” he said."

That’s actually incorrect I know tons of people who rent out share houses near the Deakin University Waurn Ponds in Geelong and make a fortune renting out rooms and the students mainly all want to live near the uni in Waurn Ponds they pack the local shopping centres.

They don’t want to travel one hour to get to uni why when they can live close by and Moreton Bay has big shopping centres no need to really travel to Brisbane but it’s only half a hour from some parts.

One reason the mayor gave for building the university is so that local students don't have to travel for hours to get to the unis in the city. I suspect it's more to attract investment into the region.
