My recommendation is to not do it. Total scam. Just set aside a set amount each week into a separate pet account.

    Thanks
    This is why I ask

I had pet insurance years ago and when claiming I had to jump hoops. So many items not included under the insurance

Hcf pet insurance. Seamless claims process, not sure how reasonable the premiums are as haven't looked around due to current pre-existing issues being excluded with other insurers but still being covered with HCF.

For my older dog I would have claimed a lot more than premiums I've paid over the years and claims are always paid quickly.

He's had a knee reconstruction and now has stage 4 cancer. His monthly drug bill is more than his monthly premium but they still pay whenever I make a claim.

Read the PDF full of ways for them to not pay

currently mine is under $400 a year. As premiums increase with age I will probably stop. It was difficult to put down a 18 month old pet. Insurance would have meant the vet bills could have been paid

We self insure ourselves and pets.

When I’ve worked out the pets insurance over 3 dogs versus expenses it’s worked out about the same. Mostly because my 15 yr old dog hasn’t had any issues.

I just switched to VetWest before my Younger dog got very ill. The yearly package worked well and we sorted out a few health issues which ended up being great value. Total Wellness Plan

I wanted to do the right thing so we insured ours with RSPCA as a portion of the payments goes towards the RSPCA and them rescuing animals.

We pay $85 for the cat and $110 for the dog (per month).

We have only ever tried to claim once when our cat had to have some teeth removed.

We were declined because teeth are not covered.

If I had my time again, I would probably do more research before choosing as honestly this is a joke. over the 11 years thats over 25 grand on something that apparently has exclusions up the wazoo.

    $85 pm is excessive

Yeah, the odd thing is the cat is a purebreed for $85, the hound is a cross. You would think the cross would be cheaper.

I believe it is only a portion from the first year that goes to RSPCA

Pure "breeds" can have more health issues then Heinz pets. Pure breeds have similar gene pools.

$85 a month is the same quotes I got for high end cover (cancer is covered etc)

Thats what I thought, it's odd that my pure breed cat is cheaper than my cross dog.

We have Bow Wow insurance for our dog. Have not made any claims. Simply have it for the sleep at night factor while we are gearing up to buy a house. I think the best time for pet insurance is on arrival of any new pets.
