I didn't get an email notification of the tag either.

I was subscribed to the thread, but the tag was in the original un-edited post, so that had to have been before I subscribed, and thus I should have been emailed.

Even checking my "Latest Alerts" section on the forum, it only shows a handful of alerts, when I've received a lot more email notifications than it's showing. Does not appear to be alert-aggregation / alert-rollup either -- there's not really any consistent pattern to it.

Thus this looks like a problem with the forum. Tagging (irony!) @Simon Hampel on this. :D

Edit: I assumed "Latest Alerts" was not aggregated because it showed two reply notifications for the same thread on the same day. However, one was 7:44am Perth time, and the other was 5:41pm on the same day. Now 8:00am Perth time is midnight UTC. So it looks like the forum considers them to be different days for aggregation, and only converts to the user's local time when it displays them. So this would be a forum bug, but probably not a bug that anyone has noticed. ;) (But that doesn't explain the original tag problem.)

There's a maximum of 5 alerts per post for regular members.

Premium and business members get unlimited alerts.

    Alerts aren't aggregated.

There's lots of reasons you might not receive an alert - it would depend on the specific circumstances as to why.

Good to know, we might need to change our approach for meetups. eg. Adding a reply to the previous meetup thread to alert and point all thread followers to the new thread.

Yes, I noticed this after I'd already edited. The simpler and more likely explanation was that I was already online at the time. Thanks.

Simplest solution is to get a Premium account :)

It was me who made the error. I didn't know there was a tag limit and tagged too many people in one post. I don't really have any use for a premium account. I don't have anything to sell ;)

I think you misunderstand the purpose of a premium account - it's not for selling things (quite the contrary, you are explicitly not allowed to sell things!), it's for helping support the site financially to keep it running and to make the forum experience smoother and more powerful for yourself.

Business membership allows people to promote their business (via signature blocks / service provider directory / etc), but premium membership is for non-business people.

    Thanks for the tag @Perthguy.
Anyway I'd like to attend the meet up on the 21st. I believe it's in Innaloo, so do I just show up or do I need to talk to anyone in particular?

Just turn up. At some point someone will probably do a roll call and hopefully make a booking. You can keep watching the thread for booking details

Don't forget - if the Christmas budget is feeling squeezy that there are $10 specials - it does say a drink purchase is required but I have found them to be pretty lax on that.
