Mark McGowan definitely referred to this in last night's announcement. The key point being that Omicron was the reason for the change.

“So far, the science shows that people with only two doses of a COVID vaccine have only a 4 per cent protection against being infected by the Omicron variant.

“With a third dose it can provide a 64 per cent protection against infection.”

We're at 88.9% now. The recent outbreak in Perth has increased the rate of vaccinations.

    We'll get to 90% before Feb 13th.

He doesn't care, mining is where the $$$ come from, not the plebs.
Yet I don't think it will have as much effect on prices as you guys think it will.

Thanks, I'll do another voodoo dance.

That's seems good. Does the 90% apply to all areas across the State? I've heard that a number of elders of the First Nations peoples are concerned and I think of the situation which occurred at Wilcannia in NSW.

More like yet another promise Marky Mark has broken. On the positive side, at least there are provisions for entry into w.a on compassionate grounds.

This is the main reason why the purchasing of alcohol has been prohibited without the proof of showing a passport, to increase the vaccination rates up north which are the lowest in the state, 53% I last read.

All of the local government areas (LGAs) in which less than half of the Indigenous population is fully vaccinated – including the Shire of Derby-West Kimberley (41.4%) – are also in WA, despite the general population in many of those areas posting rates above 85%.

Greater Geraldton, a town of more than 30,000 people 45 minutes west of Mullewa has fully vaccinated 91.1% of its population over 16, but only 49.5% of its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

There are also examples within Perth itself. The City of Swan has an overall vaccination rate of 88.2%, whereas only 56.5% of the more than 3500 Indigenous people living there are fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, Gosnells is 86.9% fully vaccinated but just 55.2% of its Aboriginal population have received two doses.

newsGP - Vaccination gap: Vulnerable communities left exposed as Omicron threatens

Only 57.28 per cent of the 27,059 Indigenous people who are on the country’s immunisation register in Perth have had two doses of vaccine as of last Wednesday.

About 40 per cent of WA’s Indigenous population lives in the city, but the rest of the state has also lagged with its regional vaccination rate at 53 per cent for two doses.

The vaccination rollout started in February with Indigenous people among the first cohorts to be eligible but first-dose rates were only around 20 per cent as late as September across WA.

WA’s Indigenous vaccination rate the worst in Australia

It's disappointing but these are (poor) personal decisions people have made to not get vaccinated. There has been ample education and opportunity to get vaxxed throughout the state and IMO we shouldn't delay opening for a second for the benefit of people who have thus far chosen not to protect themselves.

You could still go, but you'll need to quarantine on your return

So far nothing I have read says you can't. You would be eligible in my opinion to get a G2G to come back due to being a resident.

Here's the rules on who can leave and enter WA from February 5

Pretty much the same rules we've had for people that wanted to go east for most of last year when there was a restricted but not hard closed borders

The 10% is not why the state is not opening, It’s the lack of efficacy that 2 shots provide against omicron (according to the premier).
