Definitely not ok behind any cooktop. Ask them what will happen if you have a large hot pan or pot on the cooktop and it slightly brushes the acrylic splashback?

Read the fine print- they really cover their ass with warranty issues!

Thanks Hodge, I had read the 50mm clearance and we have more than that.. I had not considered the effect of a large pan or pot brushing the wall.

Will still try a sample and see how bad I am at cooking :)

But I am guessing glass might be the go, or a tiled feature panel behind the cooktop.

I've been looking at splashback options for my kitchen renovations. My mate had a bad experience with an acrylic splashback behind hotplates that went bust, so I would stay away from that.

As glass isn't a choice either, I have been weighing up both Laminex Splashbacks and Reflections Kitchen Splashbacks. I've been quoted similar pricing of that of acrylic but I've been told these splashbacks are fire ******ant and perfectly fine for stove tops / hot plates.
