Renting at Ryde council (suburb Marsfield) and for work at the moment would be Rhodes but could change too.

If its ppor, whats another 1-2 hours commute a day going to do to your personal life? Kids, schools, etc? Renting and investing somewhere else may be a option.

That is why will keep it as PPOR for short term (like 2 years) and then hold it for long term for CG and move onto rent to be closer to work with good schools (once kids are of age to go to school).

Why not just buy there and keep renting?

Being FHB to get benefit of stamp duty exemption.
Also, might improve the property slightly while living there!

    Sounds reasonable.
As was mentioned before by someone else, look for proximity to a train station, (is there anywhere you can afford that is just a walk to a train station?) and I'd check for how long the train journey is for you to get to the city and Strathfield. If you buy a property that is an easy walk to the train station, those properties will always have a demand and who knows, maybe it could be rezoned for high density sometime down the track.

Damn, it ain't easy though. Before this cycle started, 550k used to comfortably buy a home in the Parramatta region but now that's only 2 br apartment pricing.

Suppose you could trade off space and buy a unit not so far out, otherwise.... Hobart or Geelong or Melbourne?

So difficult... anyway; come along to the meetups.

Blacktown suburbs like Quakers hill, The ponds, Schofields are good family oriented suburbs

I heard same remarks from another person who has lived at Acacia Gardens for few years. Not sure if there would be any house option in my price range
