I'd also try from a public wifi, just in case it's an ISP problem.

Were you using wifi on your phone? Have you tried using 4G? Just try to narrow down to see if it's a wifi issue.

it is school holidays so the kids have probably manually edited the router and pushed all the bandwidth to xbox and made PC slow so that Dad's available for taxi services

I haven't tried just 4G on its own at home, but I was out earlier with my phone and tried it (no internet connection) and it was the same...still painfully slow to load PC.
    All other sites are fine.
Edit; as I typed this post and posted it, it had improved a little bit.

Ive just tried it only on 4G on the phone, and didn't make any obvious difference, although it has improved slightly from this morning.
C'mon - you guys are just playin' with my connection, right? :D

Just tried it again with only 4G, and then only Wi-Fi - on my phone - the speed of loading is now better, but inconsistent on both, but still intermittent blank screens and "Javasoft console error" alerts when switching between various Forums, or alerts.

Yes, Chrome has always been the browser I've been using.
Funnily, as I'm typing to you Geoff - I've just been adding some "likes" to people's posts and they worked perfectly, and then switched perfectly from that to this post reply...
A Membership?..AHA!..so, that's how you get us to sign up? - slow down the loading, and then offer the (pay us money) solution! :D
    Just kidding.
Seems much better right now.

Kevin, you could always just sign up $99.00 for one year ..I uesd to buy several weekly investment papers from several media holdings each week and as some people within that post in this site have a lot better and more sophisticated understanding of the numbers ,the simple moving parts and the drivers and outcome then me and the price per day compared to other loaded dice investment sites is nothing and could well change you and your family future..

LOL. Hadn't thought of that - maybe I could sell it? - not a good business model I suspect.
My input in that regard might be argued as poor to zero by some. :D
My wife and kids think I'm an expert on all things though (or is that just my delusional belief that they do, and I'm being humoured big time?).;)
Good news though - the PC "1st gear" gremlins seem to have disappeared for now. The site is working quite well today.
