Yep! i'm surprised you remembered me??!

I'm back hoping to get new inspiration...i'm now looking for more new ideas/motivation for investing for/with my kids...my eldest hopefully...

As for shifting 1 to 2..i am looking for passive dividends strategy mainly to diversify...the more legged stool, the more stable..

I am not speaking for Speede here, but to get returns like that, usually the most viable/logical way is a business. But managing a business (or at least making key strategic decisions) is hardly passive.

And you have the burden of risk placed on you.

...Of course, you may invest in a business or start-up, that is technically passive if you have a non-controlling stake.

The most common way people invest in business is shares, but personally I am a fan of taking private equity/offering business loans.

Providing accom for the not so rich people. You could say its property + business...actually whoever buys this from me can probably retire from it.

Set up in a way that cash is in the bank each day straight from the government :)

We haven't finalised the room rates per night yet - most of the similar complexes to ours in the vicinity are up around $300 and more per night; and are booked out several weeks (or even months) in advance, and many are not even that well positioned from our research.

So, we expect the rates to be somewhere around that.

Of course; in the beginning we will probably offer some cheaper deals to get heads on beds, and we will offer cheaper rates to those we know, family and friends (and from this forum of course ;))

We are looking to do a "soft opening" later this year - possibly opening September, we hope - so anyone who is fair dinkum - declare your interest soon.

How do you go about in investing in VAS. Do you just go and buy it like a standard share through your online broking account, or do you need to go through an adviser/etc?

Also, what about the 0.15% fee. Does it get taken out through the distributrions, ie your dividend amount already has th 0.15% taken out?

My wife makes a modest income for some paid posts on Instagram. She also gets plenty of freebies. Has added up to about $10,000 in the first 18 months or so. It is a running account of all things.

Just buy it like a standard share using your broker/online broker.

I am unsure of exactly how the fee is taken. You would expect VAS to lag the ASX300 by 0.15% all things been equal. You don't actively do anything to pay the fee.

Wow: accidentally logged out a few months (?) back and couldn't log back in!

As a novelist, you could say I make "passive" income. However, income drops dramatically if I don't have a new publication out every so often, so there's a cap on that passive thing. Plus, I'm not sure if I could call myself a novelist if I stopped publishing, and I'd probably get sick from not writing. I guess I could ramp up the "passive income" through audiobooks, which also provide royalties. Also, novelists these days are expected to be present on the social media, which I hate (I could hire someone, but I stress about being inauthentic)

I think I'm too young (early 30s) to focus on "passive" income, and am looking to diversify into more active investments/businesses. I think for someone looking for fun stuff (work) to do, passive is a bit over-hyped. But that's coming from someone who did no actual "work" for the last month or so (house-hunting, investigating an investment idea).
