    Hi All,

I just heard this on the news...

It's describing "Parramatta -> the central and center point of Sydney"
I thought this is interesting and shows on the google map, looks about right!

What do you guys think, is that the most accurate description for Parramatta?

Is there any reason this arrow seems to be pointing to Jamie Oliver's in Church St?

Disclaimer: I am not associated with this business, and am not considering buying it as part of the Keystone Group administration, but ate there a few weeks ago and it was pretty good...

@Ted Varrick No sir! it was just a random case :)
I agree Jamie's is quite good and I like the location just walking distance to the station but bad for whoever drives...

Depends upon how you measure it. Distance across the metro area, where 1/4 of the population lies in each direction. Or based on GDP of the LGAs, on the normal distribution of air pollution etc.

Until a couple of years ago, there was a giant arrow with "centre of sydney" stuck into the ground outside the Caterpillar Factory just to the southern side of the M4 at Granville... Lets all just agree Parramatta is "about" the centre of Sydney - geographically ;)

It's not a bad idea to move government functions over to Parramatta... Sydney Water and the ATO are there. Parramatta has transport so it's accessible.
I'd give that idea the thumbs up.

Wow this sounds like very much of my initial thinking, it's creepy that someone in the government has finally had the same wavelength. But I hope this change will eventuate.

Oh yeah.. I sometimes walk past the NSW police headquarters. I noticed they named what appears to be the entrance to the carpark after Curtis Chang.

The next Canberra? ha... Parramatta doesnt have enough roundabouts to qualify :) Besides- Parramatta LGA already has a population that dwarfs Canberra's... the only thing missing is the poliies.... and it appears they may arrive one day soon enough, too .

What it has lacked is a coherent plan. It has always had the potential to be a genuine 2nd city, and incrementally it has been getting there. It's changed a huge amount in the last 10-15 years. It already has a lot of high quality office space, retail and food, and obviously it has excellent transport... but its only in the last few years that large amounts of residential have started being built. It's a very different place to what it used to be, and I would imagine it will be very different again in 10-15 years

With the planned light rail linking it to Homebush and Strathfield... and the upgraded stadium about to commence work, and with the legal precinct and Govt decentralisation in full swing, it's going to be a good place to own property in the next 10-15 years . Particularly good sized blocks within the immediate 5KM radius. I think areas like Wentworthville, Merrylands, Westmead, Mays Hill, Dundas, etc will benefit a lot from Parramatta's expansion.
