    Anyone know if there is a paint that can do this and something that will last for some years..?
    Im at a cross road where I may need to re clad an entire house but would prefer to paint if this was an option. Has anyone painted vinyl clad before and what was the result?

    There may be a good case to rip it off. Particularly if it is in a nice location, and you plan to offload it in the future. Vinyl cladding is a detractant on classy houses. (of course for an IP there may be an argument to keep it) but I think just paint the timber weatherboard every 10 years with good paint.

    There are paints that stick to plastic/tiles etc but they wouldn't last long. Nothing to really absorb into on plastic. Imagine a few heavy rain beatings and hot sun.

    They can paint plastic bumpers on cars so I'm sure there's some kind of plastic or vinyl primer you can use to get paint to stick. But why'd you want to paint it in the first place?

    @Propertunity I'm renovating a house in Belmont:
    1. It has a creme 90s colour
    2. I had to rip the front off as I add new window and sliding door at front and I will need to add some new cladding like weathertex
    3. I'm rendering the bottom and the creme colour will not suit

    If there is no proven paint for exterior vinyl then I may need to re-clad entire too level of the house which is going to be $$$ even with a trade discount.

    Painting your old vinyl siding makes good sense both economically and aesthetically. Not only can you make it look like new; you can change the colour and give it a whole new look. Surface preparation and the use of a top quality acrylic paint are the keys to painting vinyl cladding. The first step is to remove any chalking and dirt by cleaning with a pressure washer or by hand scrubbing with warm soapy water and thoroughly rinsing.
    REMEMBER: never try to remove stubborn stains on vinyl cladding with a wire brush, sandpaper or a power sander. These can permanently damage your cladding. After the surface has dried, paint with two coats of Duration.

    NOTE: Never paint vinyl cladding with a colour darker than the original colour of the vinyl cladding. Dark colours absorb the sun’s heat which can cause the cladding to warp.

    Copied from the net.

    Thanks Dave.

    What you need is Dulux Durebuild STE (Surface Tolerant Epoxy) and then a Weathermax topcoat over the top.

    You wont get this type of help on a helpline, these are a specific Protective Coatings product, and you will need a specialist rep help.
