Hi all, just dropping by to say that PAINTING SUCKS! I'm currently prepping and sealing my new front courtyard wall.

Kudos to the painters and decorators that do this back breaking work on a daily basis.

    :mad::confused::(

The tradie would prob get an apprentice or labourer to do that work. Every job has its good and bad parts.

    Plus one to painting sucks!

Agree kudos to those that do it as a profession and even make it seem like it is not the pain that it is. Had the last three rooms finished by a painter...hubby put his thong down - sick of me whining.

Sounds like you are almost through the worst bit though - keep going :)

    I don't like it :-(

I'm meeting our painter tomorrow to pick colours for our new PPOR :)

I've done it enough times on my own to know that a) it's not fun b) ends up costing me more and c) the pros do a better job.

    Cheers

    Jamie

Yeah it gives me a major headache almost immediately, my feet get really really sore standing on my stupid ladder, I have to take panadol, no food prepared at end of day, too tired to cook etc etc
Not to mention the insanity involved in choosing whites!
But I still like it. It's so worth the effort.

I actually find it a refreshing break from laying bricks LifesGood. My son and I are currently building two townhouses in Coffs Harbour and are cement bagging and painting the exterior walls at the moment. It's a fairly large project but we just chip away at it.As I said I find it a nice change from laying bricks and blocks which is what I have done for the last 49 years.Anyway, have fun with it mate.Regards Terry.

I hate it with a passion, but I am always doing it, not a month seems to go by that I have to paint something, my last paint job ? 2 days ago, a full lounge room with picture rails and a lot of cleaning prep required, actually, the paint application I do not mind.

I hate preparation, the cleaning, the masking, the cutting in & then the actual clean up.

Next lot, about 2 weeks time.....

Tell hubby to try using a roller next time. Save the thong for the bedroom...

Was that supposed to be "put" or "pulled"? :p

A lot easier/faster when doing the same repetitious task everyday, the body gets used to it, same as sports/athletes etc, feel it for a few days after a long holiday though. On the flip side prob have a difficult time sitting at a desk all day, including mentally.

Easier paying someone else but I'd rather pick on my own stuff-ups, brush marks etc than getting  every-time I notice someone else's.

Considering I'm not paying someone else to do the job I recon I'm entitled to takeaway Chinese or similar. However by the time I pack up, have a shower etc, I can't be stuffed, end up having a microwave meal.

Scrunch up your thong for that authentic Tuscan effect that was popular in the mid 90's.

Painting is by far the easiest most relaxing reno job. It is the equivalent job to an office worker checking their facebook.

Just did bathrooms, hall, main lounge, master bed and second bed. Another bed and front door left to do next weekend.

Cheapest way to improve any property. Not saying I liked it...podcasts definitely helped.

Just finished painting the whole internals of my house. Never. Again. I knew it would be a huge job to begin with but that didn't make it any easier. Took 3 months to complete working on it evenings and Sundays and during the day where I could squeeze it in.

My dodgy shoulders are even dodgier and falling off the top step of the 2.1m ladder with a full cup of paint didn't help either...

Been renovating multiple houses simultaneously the past few months. I thought painting would be the best bit and was by far the worst.

The actual rolling of walls and ceilings was OK, but unfortunately represented about 10% of the job.

I like demo better. I could demo till the cows come home. I also don't mind carpentry type jobs except hanging doors. I don't love hanging doors. I rebated the hinges for 6 doors on the weekend. I would rather do that than painting.
