It's a great source of information listening in to the conversations of others (or to taxi drivers etc) for the sentiment of the masses....

"It's amazingly cheap it is to buy a house in Sydney less than 10km from the CBD."

"I've spent several years in the US & Asia but I'm back for good this time. Back into the market".

"I (not me) looked at a place for $4m the other day in North Sydney (area), it wasn't too bad value... You can't find anything comparable in NY or SE Asia like that in the price range".

    Realistically, is Sydney still under-priced?

I guess the "under-priced" standard is relative to salary of the people in Aus rather than comparing distance to CBD etc etc in other countries?

It makes one also think when you look at real estates windows in other countries outside Australia ,even though it's hard to believe but the same well may happen in several places within this country..

Yes, compare to the apartment prices in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong and other Asian metropolis.
1 newish one-bedder near a subway station, 6 stops from the centre of Shanghai ( People's Square) will realistically cost 1.3m.

For those familiar with London (and Sydney), what suburb in Sydney is Kenso comparable to? Point Piper?

And they were on a bus?

Are you sure they didn't recognise you as @Scott No Mates from PChat and quietly said "Let's gee him up a bit that Nth Syd is on the go at $4m, and we're gonna pop on a place because it's so cheap?"

How is comparing Sydney to international cities 2-4 times the size even relevant? Clearly I don't see the correlation.....

I think we should change the subject of this post to:

Fairly certain this is not representative of "the masses"

Maybe it was the 8:05 bus from Vaucluse to Double Bay.

We were on a bus - don't the masses catch buses?

I would have thought they'd be representative of the group.

A single data point taken from a bus is hardly a statistically significant sample of the masses. :p

The bus was full - that'd count as a larger sample.

Wouldn't the sample be larger if the bus was empty?

I picked up a hitch-hiker the other day and broke the ice with how cheap cars are these days. She just stared at me the whole trip without saying a word. I dropped her off at the court house.
