OSR transfer duty (stamp duty) question Queensland

    There was some chatter a while back talking about changing of OSR transfer duty to a different system, paying an annual fee (?) instead of upfront transfer duty.

    I don't know if was state-specific (but assume so).

    I can't find the thread, but wonder if this is just a proposal at this stage?

    There was talk about this about 12-24 months ago. However, as per every state that suggests this, it is quietly forgotten during a property boom when sales volumes are high :rolleyes: So no, as far as I am aware, you are still up for transfer duty.

    They're happy to take the money while the times are good, but when it's slow they start wondering whether they'd rather have a more steady source of income :mad:

    If it did one day change, it would totally transform the market for both investors and owner occupiers. Strategies would literally flip :p overnight

    I understand this was a NSW proposal.
    I am not aware of any such proposal from other states.
