Hi, We are in the middle of a development and there is the question of when a delay has commenced and finished? It is in relation to the ordering and installation of the roof trusses? At what stage of construction are the roof trusses normally ordered? Do the the roof truss people look at the engineering drawings and design the roof trusses accordingly? Do they do check measure of the supporting frame and then design or have they designed beforehand according to engineers drawing and then do a check measure before commencing manufacturing? How long would the roof truss company normally take to design roof trusses for 4 townhouses? OR does the Roof Truss company design and manufacture based on the plans only and so can be ordered in advance and be ready to install immediately after the frame has been completed? Thanks
Are you an owner builder? If not, these questions should be answered/taken care of by your contractor/builder... if you are, maybe get some assistance - it's going to be a long difficult journey
Most times the roof--trusses will arrive the same time as the frame work is on-site as it's not good to have the frame just sitting there,,the quicker the roof is set the better.... slab--frame--finish is the way the building is passed and signed off on .. imho..
So, can the roof trusses be ordered before the frame is complete? Isnt a check measure of the frame needed before the roof trusses can be ordered? Our frame has been sitting there for 3 months. The roof trusses were sitting there for one month before installation. Is that a problem? If so, what should we have checked?
I guess what is the frame made from timber or metal, and what type of roof ?.. But i guess the question would be,why has the frame just been sitting there ?.
They can be ordered off the plan but I prefer a check measure which can be done when the walls are set out on the floor. No meed for the walls to be completed. Tools
If the same mob is doing the trusses & frames, provided that they have been set out correctly, the roof trusses will marry up with the frames and the lot be delivered in one load with the walls. If you have double brick, then measured on the setout or first courses of brickwork.
Trusses delivered last week of December . They sat there over the holiday period about 3 weeks, then took about 2 weeks to install. Frame is timber and roof is metal.
I'd be asking the builder and project manager for updates and explanations - really doesn't sound right....
