Far out. Not sure if anyone else experienced this...

Optus thinks everyone is a peasant: Only renting or own one house. Their systems not catered to manage and link multiple accounts if you have multiple properties.

They issue seperate bills but mailed out seperately not in one letter bad for the environment. Moreover they dont have mailing address and actual property address like BCC rates bill does.

Optus can you please improve thanks. Stop thinking we are poor some of us has more than one property! I cant tax deduct the bills for IP if the address is to my PPoR and doesnt show IP address on the bill!

Yes I am sure that Optus will be reading the forum ready to jump on it. Just like the CEO of KMart re the heaters.

And yes, you can deduct a legitimate expense if the address is not shown

But I would need time to explain it dont I? Optus should update their system and add an extra field for mailing address in addition to property address (service address) it' not rocket surgery..........

Its rare that people own multiple properties.
Out of those, its rare that the owners would want the bills, most tenants sort out their own phone & utilities.
Out of those, Optus market share on land lines is low.

Would you invest in a system that caters for 5 people out of 20 million people?

To explain what? You supply internet as part of shared house, thats a legit deduction. The fact that you have 2 or 3 or 20 services on the bill is irrelevant.

I suggest you do your own telephony. A few hundred metres of string and some plastic cups from K-Mart should do the trick.

    Not that rare. I read 7% of us own IP(s) so 0.07 x 23mil = more than 5 people!

Drop Optus like a hot potato. Go to a service aggregator like Macquarie Telecom who will treat you the way you should be treated, like royalty.

I just dont like how optus designed it. Looking down on us thinking we are not capable of owning more than 1 property.... thinking they are so good....

    BCC doesn't do that...

There's nothing to stop you but fraud. Australian tax is a self reporting system, you can claim what you want but if audited you need to be able to back up those claims. All you need is the bill plus your evidence for that.

I'm having a few issues with AGL at the moment along similar lines. I have accounts for multiple properties... I want the bills to go to the service address for each - way too hard for them. I've got a bill for a canberra property going to an address in Adelaide.

If auditor saw a bill with no address of IP it will just make the auditor horny to look more into everything = more tax payers money wasted! More of my time wasted!

There's nothing to stop you deducting a charter flight to New York to see the opera either. One will be simple to explain if you get audited, the other a little more difficult.

Yes, but how many of that 7% provide an Internet service at their rental? Barely any I would assume. Just those like yourself who are running boarding houses, student accom etc.
