we have superiors who tell us not to do something well because it makes others look bad
we have people who produce 'pretty' things and get promoted
we have disorganised people who can't meet deadlines get promoted
we have people related to people who get promoted; the 'status quo'
we have cliques that pat each other on the back, support mediocrity and put others down
we have knowledgeable hard working people whose quality of work is second to none and they are never promoted - these people serve our customers
people are put in roles to merely become yes people
those who move into roles thinking they can make a difference or improve results are quickly put in their place (usually by bullying or put downs or people perceiving them as 'aggressive' or 'unstable' or 'having issues' - they either toe the line or quit.
It depends how badly their principles clash with the hypocrisy or their need for a pay cheque.
    but this is apparently normal

It sounds to me like you're really asking "how do I do the bare minimum and con people into thinking I do heaps" hahahah. Go on - be honest.

Assuming that what you have written is actually true, should I be employed as a senior manager in your organisation, it looks like it's highly probable that I might be the first employee sacked for "Streamlining Without Prejudice".

And I think Owls are OK...
