    Hi Sim

I have noticed that whenever I open a new thread it opens at the last post and then I have to scroll back to the top (even have to change back to first page) so that I can read the earlier ones.

I am using firefox browser if that makes any difference

That's intentional. It's an excellent feature to prevent us from re-reading stuff we've already ready.

It picks up the posts we've personally read (assuming you're logged in), which is not necessarily the latest.

Yes, its good if you have read the posts, but it happens to me when I read a thread for the first time too, so if there are posts I haven't read it still skips those.

Yes, that is deliberate - the title takes you to the first unread post.

However, what you are probably seeing is the fact that the system only tracks what it considers to be "unread" threads for each user for a certain amount of time.

So if you click on a thread that was created a while ago but you haven't read yet - it will still consider earlier posts in that thread as having been read by you and will jump you further down the thread to find the first unread post for you.

There is a way around this for any thread, whether it be while browsing a forum or looking at search results - rather than clicking on the thread title (which will always jump you to the first unread post), instead, click on the date just below - that will always take you to the first message in the thread.

Note that you can also do this when viewing a thread - if it is a long thread and you're on page 156 but you want to go back to the first page, you can click on the date at the top of the page just under the thread title and it will take you back to the beginning.

You can also use this link to find the URL of the thread if you need it.
