give this a shot and I will come from miles away to try it

also, you may be able to opt into an established delivery platform like Menulog for deliveries. Could be a good way to test the viability of deliveries without the hassle of having to send staff out to do them.

Best chippie I know of offers free samples of their fish to close and guide the undecided, works a treat.

Mushy peas...yeah those are the ideas I like to see. Unique and could taste great. I'd throw everything at the wall to see what sticks - all variety of condiments, pickles, toppings. But this is coming from a guy that fuses shepherds pie with pizza.

One of my locals has a poster like this on the wall saying that fish and chips are healthier. Never done any research to confirm it though.

I only like a soggy chip if I made it that way myself - with lashing of malt vinegar

Are there enough poms around to do a proper English Chippy? These guys do a roaring trade. My wife is English and we drive 20mins once a month or so to get some.

Along the lines of the chiko roll (and this digresses from Fish and chips, sorry). Very rarely you see roadhouses selling cooked pork belly strips, in a similar size to a chiko roll. Heaps of fat but soooo good!!!

It would be tax deductible for you too wouldn't. Food expenses while travelling to see your property........

99% of places sell grilled as an option. I wonder if that's what they could mean. Granted,
I was told food couldn't be claimed? I tried to claim a donut once(amongst other things) and my accountant looked at me like I was crazy.

No point doing delivery for a fish and chip shop. As others have said they won't travel well. Also the $ order per person is probably not worth it. You will be getting people call up and want minimum chips $4 delivered. When you tell them the minimum delivery is $25 order they will complain that chips shouldn't cost $25

If you owned a chippy, then takeaway food purchased elsewhere, could be regarded as tax deductible, subject to conditions (like making a log of the place, condition, prices etc). I couldn't be bothered- at what I was drawing out of the business, I wasn't in a high tax bracket.

I was stirring and am no accountant. But if you were in the business of investing in property and you had to buy a meal because you travelled (eg Gockie lives interstate) to your investment property. Or if you were the employee of the entity that owned the investment property.

I have never owned interstate but travel for business interstate (as do employees of mine) so am just basing it on that.

Yes travel for business is fine. My accountant told me that when I went OS. But when I went to Melbourne to renovate one of my properties he said the food I purchased there doesn't count.

exploit social media for advertising :) Ideally if i was going into the food industry, i would take a concept that is successful else where in the world and implement it here...as Australia is still a young country and esp Perth is a bit behind.

Further i would use that pop up concept that the City of Perth offers. Sign a 3 month lease with no obligations...something new...fresh...healthy...fast...cheap ....winner :)

Yes you can buy them in the UK or here (More common in the UK) Brand new around $2000 each or second hand $500 (Gumtree)

I was also thinking of offering a loyalty programme (Buy 9 get the 10th free) or something along those lines. As well as doing a Groupon/Scoopon deal that seems very popular.[/QUOTE]
