You have seen the thread dealing with what is happening in VIC/NSW with rental reforms. I think it is slowly spreading up north.

Interesting survey, very basic. I'm not really sure what it's trying to achieve. I suspect the only meaningful data will come from the open forms.

Is anyone considering drafting a full written submission?

The only thing it's designed to achieve is a white wash and introduce tenant / LL laws that the left want in.

It is high time to bump this thread and remind everyone. Submissions close at 5PM AEST on Friday 30 November 2018.

It important that lessors with concerns make submissions and now is the time have your say.

Together with the POAQ, I have prepared a simple page to help owners make a submission: Property Owners Association of Queensland

The page has links, instructions, a submission outline and template, and a list of issues being raised. It is quite straightforward and quick to make a submission to the Open Doors to Renting Reform website.

Don't waste too much effort on the website survey, useless questions will not lead to useful answers.

Has anybody here made a submission?

    Mark.

Sure, there should be minimum standards for housing and rentals
    But......
If someone with pets wants to rent a house then rent one that allows pets.
6 months into a lease and now want a dog, bad luck citizen tenant !

If these people want a pet or to install ceiling mounted surround sound then clearly they should buy their own damn property, inclusive of all the maintenance and outgoings ownership entails.
"Oh but I can't afford THAT"!
Then why should you be eating out 3 nights a week and driving a new car at my expense ?
I own it, my property my rules, you don't have to rent it o_O
Next thing we will have rent capping to assist in affordability
Life is about compromise Citizen Tenant :p

Little wonder there is so much discussion about share investment on a property forum;)

How is your tenants eating out 3 nights a week and the car driving you mention at your expense?

If tenants do hang a picture, or add a safety bracket to stop their kids being crushed by heavy furniture, I’m confident they’ll need to make it good when they leave.

If my tenants eat out or have a new car, it’s really none of my business. And I’m pretty certain we won’t see rent capping in QLD!

I have several associates that rent and lead a lifestyle that tbh I am envious of
    They all rent

Never said it was at my expense or my business....
I guess I am jealous, I can see my sacrifices yesterday, today, tomorrow and the many years past and future benefiting my family one day. Am still envious. I doubt I will ever buy a resi IP again......... Commercial or shares are soon where my hard earned will go.

I also resent all the do gooders and govco stepping in on so many area's
Sure safety comes first and foremost

We see posts here all the time regarding tenant requests and in some cases demands !
The response if often it is as viewed, if you didn't like it or check it is not an excuse to void the lease or complain.

Still, I am sure these are the same people that if they could ever save enough money to buy a PPOR they would still complain how hard done by they are

I feel like we live in a Dictatorial country. The "Government" has to dictate everything we do. Where is the free market, how is the economy going to thrive?
For those having IP now, some are seriously considering to bail out.
Also worried about my retirement... was thinking of convincing my husband to move into an Apartment.
But with all these Reforms (BCCM & Rentals), we could be among some unsavoury Tenants and their pets, and there is nothing the PM or Owners can do to get rid of them.
Had Tenants who scream and yell for $5 increase in rent, but didnt think twice to buy a backpack for their pets. Dont get me started with smelly cat ****.
Some Owners like pets, so they can have those Tenants.
For me, where is my right that says MyHouseMyRules?

You can choose to invest in shares instead of property.

Ironically it is often those who complain about ‘dictatorial’ governments who are among the first to complain if the government doesn’t help them when they want it...for example after a fire, flood etc...
