Our weekender was ahead of it's time when it was built some 14 years ago by the original owners by having an open bathroom in the main bedroom . When they went to sell it , this was considered a negative , in particular because the toilet had pride of place of side of the " bathroom " facing the Bedroom . Lying in bed you look at the toilet from the side .

The owners apparently had " house rules " .

We have a folding partition .

We're getting closer to renting it out and were planing of gyprocking the ensuite , but that does close the room down a bit . The other option is to just put a screen around the side of the toilet , which will give visual privacy , but not acoustic privacy .

If you were staying at a weekender , would that be an game breaker for you ?

Maybe an opaque glass wall? Still lets light in but gives more privacy.

It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me as most people will book based on online photos and you would just NEVER photograph it so it's obvious. It might deter repeat bookers but I'm not sure how big the repeat booking market might be.

Around 50 % are repeat bookers in that areas .

We'd be looking at some form of opaque glass screen .

The local agent didn't think it was a significant issue , but wanted more opinions ( as always )

close it in, put in an opaque sliding door for some light if it needs it. But close the room.

This 'trend' has to be one of the worst ever for so many reasons - kill it with fire!

May well be the case , and it polarises people and if it was easy we'd do it

Will much more difficult and expensive to organise if we close it in .

Close it in. I havent gone back to one place at Mt Tamborine for this reason. So your repeat booking will be impacted.

I'd also close it in, or as a minimum, screen it off. There are certain things that don't need to be shared... o_O

I would imagine that I could smell something even if nobody else could.

It may not be a deal breaker, but it would certainly be a negative. Clearly you think so, or you would not be asking the question.

Close it in. Preferably with a door that shuts!

    It’s not just the visual.....

... and that is bad enough. :D;)

I keep thinking of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is dating a woman who does everything naked. He's all excited until he realises that many things don't look great if they are being done naked.
