Here we go, a rare breed indeed:)

This is not a competition, because we also know net worth is important

    Nonetheless interesting stats

What Percentage (%) Of Australians Own Investment Property?

    Extract Below (On Proprerty)

Let’s look at people who own just one investment property. And so, this isn’t including your own house. None of these figures are including your principal place of residence.

This is looking at people who own rental properties only. So, people who owned one, they were 72.8% of all investors. So 72.8% of that 1.7 million people own just one house and 5.75% of the Australian population own just one investment property. 18% of investors and 1.42% of the Australian population owned two properties.

5.5% of investors or 0.43% of Australians owned three properties. 2% of investors or 0.16% of Australians owned four investment properties. 0.8% of investors or 0.065% of Australians owned 5 investment properties. And then 0.9% of investors and 0.068% of Australians owned six or more investment properties.

Not sure how they calculate this stuff...is this just people who put properties in their own name? What about ownership under a trust, or corporate entity, or your wife's name? or your kids names?....just sayin'.

that's old data... According to ATO, there was more than 2M investors who payed interest in 2014-2015, now the number is 2.1-2.15M (estimated), if we include those who owns the investment properties outright, then it would be much more.

btw, the number of those who own 6+ properties is growing faster than in other categories.

Does owning 6 units in Elizabeth, Lavington or Point Cook really count?

what counts is that almost all from our political elite have multiple properties (many have dozens). I think that is primary reason for current property investment boom and growth in number of investors ;)

These statistics are partially misleading. They talk of legal ownership only and don't distinguish been a person owning a property in their own right, both legal and equitable v owning as trustee. They also don't take into account equitable interests.

I don't think I have come across anyone who owns more than a few properties in their personal names directly.

    UT 1
    UT 1
    P/L 1
    Personal 2

Did it count me as 5 or 2. 2!

I'd be pretty happy with 6 in point cook. That's a decent portfolio.

It's not the number of properties but the quality of the properties and whether it's bleeding you dry every month. I have utmost faith in my properties as it was chosen well and tracking along nicely. It's a bonus that I may even consider living in any of them if I was to retire as well, but this wasn't part of the equation originally at all. Every year, I have been fortunate enough to increase rents on each property and attract good quality tenants.

Touch wood that so far in my journey I have yet to acquire a dud but I do complain about about the maintenance work required due to the age of the property.

My point was not really elaborated but there is a huge difference beteeen 6 in Elizabeth and 6 in point cook. Like about a $2M+ difference. Most here would be happy with.

In the old Somersoft forum, one of the old threads was "Woke up a millionaire" by a chap called Oscar...

Well worth pulling it up for a read. I think he only had total 4 properties which propelled him to 5 million..BACK IN THOSE DAYS...

I always remember his quote "no flips, no flops, no subdivision, nothing"
