"On The House" Question

I notice when on the website when I look through the few areas I am investigating that some properties say sold in 2020 in the last 3-6 months, but they never hit the portals. My question, does On the House access data by a source that the general public doesn't have access to ? Have these houses probably been sold "off-market" ? Thanks.

I don’t think it’s 100% accurate. I see errors eg land size.

 

You get the accuracy that you pay for in this instance.

So general consensus is it's not really a reliable source for much of anything ? I noticed the years built was horribly inaccurate, and the auto valuations obviously are not accurate, but was just wondering if maybe they got the info from somewhere reliable on the sold properties that were never listed. On the house need to get off the grass, they get the locations wrong, often they put the location of the sold property at the vendors address. The prices you are looking at could be for a different lot.

 

You're not going to find a reliable source for this information unless you do the legwork yourself - whether that is an FOI request from council, state library archives (for subdivision information) eg Linky.

Even if you find the subdivision information (as per the example above), there was a later subdivision undertaken on a few of those blocks as well as other maps eg - rail map or proposal 1871

All of the information is irrelevant - you get what you can see and easily determine ie what is in the contract of sale. If you want to investigate how old the building is, read Australia's Home by Robyn Boyd (out of print since 1970's).

 

I could be wrong, but I suspect On The House may be owned by Core Logic (RP Data).
