There was a party one street over from my place Saturday night. The loud music stopped at 1am. Then they were singing slow rock ballads for another hour. Seems people ignore the midnight weekend noise curfew.

Ruined my sleep ahead of a 5:45am wake up to go for a Bushwalk.

You only need to ban teenage parties being mentioned at all on social media. It seems they are fine until the word gets out.

Oh @MTR I feel your pain. I've only ever had one teenage party at my house. There were a couple of drunk kids, but not too bad. The two that were drunk, I asked them to go outside because I didn't want anyone vomiting inside the house.

The worst thing I've had happen is one of mine having some girlfriends for a sleepover at our house. Some boys found out that some girls were at our place for a sleepover. I needed a shot gun that night. I was chasing boys down the road, through the house, out windows. Nightmare. But I missed one, who hid somewhere in the house. At 2 am another daughter felt someone flop down on the bed beside her. She thought it was the cat. She turned to find a strange boy passed out on her bed. He had drunk all the alcohol he could find in the house, and passed out on her bed. Thank goodness those days are over.

    Holy cow.

How old was your daughter at that time?

I'd love to have a daughter (if/when we have kids) so now I'm trying to calculate when I should go out and get myself a gun.

From memory, she was 16. But to be honest, it was all a blur and I think I've deliberately repressed the memories. She may have been 15. She is now an amazing young woman, with an incredibly sensible head on her shoulders. There is hope.

We held my sons 18th in a our backyard.
Had a marquee with dance floor and hired a dj.

We had about 70 kids - all pretty well behaved. Was reinforced many times prior that it wasn't to be posted on Facebook and was invite only. Only way into our backyard is through a gate and we had someone at the gate checking names.

The police did attend, but was more a friendly visit to let us know they were in the area if we needed them. None of the kids were badly behaved and it was completely contained to our backyard.

Neighbours said they didn't hear anything.

    Was a good night.

In QLD you can register a party with the police. They'll provide some advice in advance. On the night they'll do drive-bys and drop-ins if they have the time. They've got your number so if there are some small issues they can call rather than drop in - eg - the music's a bit loud turn it down. Bring the kids out the front into the property. etcc
