Anyone watching the games? apparently medal count for Australia is at an all time low, I know it's not everything, but for some reason these games seem to be lack lustre IMO?

Rio games also getting lots of negative reports regarding security, safety of teams and whether the standards overall are up to scratch has been raised.

Not the same this time. Has a real boring feel to it.

    Hmm, low medal count!

Get ready for the shaming and soul searching, followed by many more millions of dollars being poured into training future Olympians.

There are so many more worthwhile ways to spend our tax dollars...I wish we didn't put so much stock in getting medals, as a nation.

It seems lost in the already significant coverage of sport. It's almost an olympic sport locating the actual news amongst sport 'news.'

I think its mostly the coverage format and also the commentators. It isn't interesting at all whereas previous years it was good.

Yeah I would agree. The commentators have been very poor. Eg one foolish commentary was a commentator saying something like how nbc in America twisted the arm of the ioc to get heats timed to coincide with prime time viewing time..

Different view in the British press, they're having a great Olympics, coming second.

The boomers are doing an incredible job - they should come back with a medal. Loving the state Australia basketball is in at the moment.

A few of my archery friends are bringing home bronze medals (Australia's first ever archery team medal) .... the wooden box it comes in is actually as cool as the medal itself.

We tape it each night, flick through at 30x and watch the important bits. Have just watched the clean and jerk and wonder why they disqualify someone for having "soft elbows" or wobbling. I reckon they hold it up... or they don't. Crazy rules.

We wouldn't watch if we couldn't tape it and flick through the waffle and the ads. I reckon half the taped content is ads. Crazy.

Anna Meares' speech was touching. What an amazing lady.

Looks like those wooden toilet seats you see in Bunnings.

I think that would be an inevitable comparison had the box been hinged rather than swivelling (and held closed by magnets) :)
