Hello, can anyone suggest a way to ‘remove’ the permanent stain on my carpet? My tenant made it there for years and I don’t know what material was the stain (guessing it’s coffee or tea)

The problem is carpet cleaning company cannot wash it away. I tried using bleach and it seemed to make it worse (second photo).

Is there any other way except for replacing the whole carpet? I heard some permanent stain removal solution like carpet dye. Does anyone know if this kind of service is available in Sydney? Thanks.

    Looks terrible.

You may have wet it too much and the colour from the underlay has leached through?

If the carpet cleaner couldn't clean it, then hard to know who could.

If it’s old carpet, just replace it. And get a darker colour this time.

What type of carpet? I'd buy carpet cleaner (ask the local carpet store what they recommend) and try that first. Follow their directions.

Bicarb will almost certainly ruin the colour.

Then if that didn't work, you could try colour fast clothing powder diluted. Might lose colour in carpet.

Then, citric acid and detergent. Scrub and rinse. Might make things worse too.

Have you tried using a steam carpet cleaner?

If the carpet has been there for years it might be more cost effective to replace overall given it's probably due, than get a professional in to do a clean. A professional service is a possibility too.

Take some carpet from a closet or somewhere else and replace the carpet in that patch. Otherwise... get rid of that carpet altogether as others are saying.

Bleach ? Thats killed the carpet. Bleach erases colour permanently or changes the colour. Bleach should only be used in toilets, showers and drains + laundry (sometimes)
Carpet dye isnt a spot treatment and will just change the colour of the stain marking.

New carpet time unless a rug can sit on top and not look out of place

Thanks, I finally resort to having a rug to cover it.
