Top 10 areas in NSW with unused Dine & Discover vouchers

More than $100 million in unused Dine and Discover vouchers may go to waste across 10 local government areas in Greater Sydney as they're set to expire next week.

The vouchers were rolled out during the COVID-19 pandemic as an economic boost and sweetener for NSW residents to go and visit restaurants, cafes, theatres, museums, zoos and entertainment centres to name a few.

The vouchers expire next week on June 30 and millions of dollars the government injected into the vouchers will be useless.

While the charity thing is a great way to use the vouchers, any unused vouchers just means the money goes back to the government?

Yeah...in light of the state of events atm, that's a better idea.

Unused discover vouchers can be used to buy Hoyts tickets (2 tickets for $25), which are then valid for 3 years.

BUT, if you're a senior (60 or over), you get tickets for $9. If you could buy a $25 gift card instead of the 2 tickets, you'd be better off.

Not really. The Dine and Discover vouchers don't cost you anything, and any unused ones are going to expire in a few days. So you can pay $8 a ticket, or pay nothing.

It's just an option to use up any unused vouchers without going on a mountain climbing adventure or whatever in the next few days.

I agree, it's better than nothing, but for those that have other options, isn't the best choice.

Thank you Geoff for the hot tip! Just to add you can't redeem both vouchers on the same day.

Can only redeem one voucher per person per day - but they must've had a rush. My confirmation email came back with delivery to inbox within 24 hours - Juniors says 48 hours

I have an older relative, 2 actually, that has not used any vouchers yet. I tried to walk them through getting it done, but gave up as too complex for someone with no basic knowedge of phones, other than making a call.

I used few "dines" from other family members - taking a photo of their voucher, as all the restaurant/cafe need is an image of the QR code

Guess it's a bit late now, with only tomorrow remaining

My mum tried to watch a movie today, she said lines were massive and didn’t end up going. Guess everyone is onto this now.

    I can understand this.

However, the vouchers can be purchased today for going to the movies later. One voucher gives you two tickets, with three years to use up.

Apologies, but that was my point. She regularly goes to the movies mid week, but the lines were never out the door. She said those who were purchasing tickets for today were directed to the self-pay machines, but the large majority of people were there to buy vouchers for later use.

Ah, ok. I purchased mine online, so I didn't have a queue.

The one I purchased on Sunday arrived almost immediately, the one I purchased Monday took two days.

Edit: if she's not an internet person, you can get a voucher for her, using her d&d number, and printing out the voucher.
