    Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a Queensland based Notary Public who is reasonably priced?

    Thanks,
    Robbie

My Dad is selling a property in South Africa and the contract of sale needs to be signed in the presence of a notary.

A notary public is no easy thing.

    10 years of practice
Large application and filing in Court in London (including certificate from the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in QLD)

They will rightly charge a decent amount.

Agreed - but how can one notary want to charge me $300 and another $100 for the same documents?

The $300 one is completely under selling themselves

I had a client in London need to enter into a POA and that seems so simple.

Not all lawyers are same. Same issue applies to almost any professional.

Is Denis Denuto a Notary Public ? May be your man for $100. Except Wednesdays. The girls not in the office that day.

    My point is..

I had a set of documents which needed to be signed in the presence of a notary. After sending the documents to two notaries, they each sent me back the cost. One was asking $300, the other $100.

    How is the possible?

Sorry, I read that as $1,000. I thought the $300 was far too cheap. Would expect $500 minimum.

Its illegal to fix prices and they are free to charge as they like. Like conveyancing - Some do it for $1400 and others charge $5,000 and tell you its the Law Society scale fee.

My Doctor bulk bills. I pay $0. The other Medical Centre charges $80 a visit with $22 back from Medicare. Both are busy.

Thank God that we have a free market.

And service providers can charge their perceived worth
