@Terry_w also in nextflix in the "The Lovers and the despot" is pretty interesting story about a Korean director and actress kidnapped to North Korea due to the dear leader wanting North Korean movies to be better than it's lowly standards.

I have an American friend who went on a tour in north korea couple years back and made it back safely

If you do a google there are now quite a few tour groups selling tours for foreigners.

They are probably rolling in $$ now. They have enjoyed the last couple decades of profitable commodity and other exports to china. And considering they don't spend much on welfare, all that extra profit is likely fuelling their nuclear campaign and arms/troop build up.

It seems they were ramping up uranium mining couple years back. We now know what it was intended for...
