Is it possible to really ask the agent not to disclose the sold figure online? I did this with one of my sales in melbourne and at the beginning they really didn't disclose it but when it settled, somehow it appeared all across websites. I asked them and they said they can't control that because it gets submitted to rpdata or whatever government sources... but i have seen many properties settled without anything disclosed.... So it must be possible?

But how can other agents do it? There are a lot of properties sold not getting prices shown.

Agree with DT - pretty sure that the info has to be made available to the public.

    Cheers

A selling agent can choose to list the property on the web portals with a sold price, without a sold price, or not at all.

However all sales data goes on public record at the land titles office, and data providers such as RP Data, Pricefinder, Investar etc all pay money for this data feed. The sales agent cant stop this, your privacy from the agent only lasts until settlement or shortly after.

Hi Xenia, Yeah i know it all goes into government registry, but i don't know how some of the agents could just avoid showing it online... even on RE website, when you search for the history/ auction results, it won't show it. Only when you purchase the sales report, then you could see it...

What do you have to hide?

Same as you most likely used other sold prices to work out what to offer on your purchase why not help the next sucker to buy?

Also the numbers that are published are not always 100% correct, even on our last purchase it is about 30k higher than what we actually paid (it was the contract price though).
