I think this thread might be more suitable for my question.,
I’m hoping some one can point me in the right direction? I’m wanting to find out if the bedrooms & extra bathroom in the house I’m about to put an offer on has been approved by the relevant authorities. The agent or vendor doesn’t seem to know. Does anyone know who I contact & what questions I ask? I am potentially going to rent out this area of the house as a holiday let, but not sure if I can if they’re not approved? or if I would run into trouble with insurance if something went wrong-house burnt down or guest injured themselves? Thoughts?

Your first point of call is the local council. They will be able to tell you. If it’s a very old property they may charge you an archive fee to dig for the papers. It can take a week or so to get the information so call today.
