Just wondering what anyone thinks about next Tuesday deadline for Greece to pay over a billion in aust dollars too the IMF,as they are starting to run on Greek Banks right now, with withdraw limits in place now, some us banks have been helping and if that stops the whole euro zone implodes..
Just think on the upside with all the Greeks that now will travel too Australia who were born here grew up there, and coming back now maybe it will cause a mini boom in Melbourne,.
Not sure on the % of Greeks that still live in the west end but going by the titles searches they hold some of the higher end from the barber shop upwards to mulit story developments sites,Vietnamese have a strong holdings also, but most of 3rd Australia born gen Greeks hold onto the base camp for a long time..
It has already started in Melbourne. A number of Greeks who were born here but returned to Greece when they were very young have returned to Melbourne, as they have dual nationality. There was a program on the ABC 774 radio last week, the numbers were really quite high. It was mainly males in their 30s. A few were interviewed and they stated that they were unable to get work in Greece and anything they could get was paid so low that they could not survive. They said how easy it was to get a job in Melbourne but I have no idea what sort of jobs they were filling.
Yep...ABC reported that Greeks who are dual nationals are buying a plane ticket to OZ and fronting up at Greek Community organizations...saying I am here...
Chances of paying by deadline is near 0. That does not automatically get them kicked out of the Eurozone. ..But its likely if they can't work out any mutually acceptable plan with lenders.
