Will the announcement of the next snowy mountains scheme mean a rise in regional areas home prices. Tumut, Albury.?

They will undoubtedly build work camps however there will be people that want to have their own place so there may be some growth both in returns and prices.

How much capacity are they going to build? The Keiwa Valley Hydro Scheme only generates a tiny % of the power from 5 power stations in Victoria and is totally unmanned.

I think they were talking of a 2000MW increase in Peak Generating Capacity? So 4000MW total. So serious stuff.

Currently Tummut which is pumped Hydro is like 1500MW, then there is other standard Hydro generation.

So its a big increase, but your right to question how many long term jobs it creates. Not many.

Tumut possibly. Good news for a underground fitter based in Albury though. Assuming they will drill and blast the tunnel/s, they would be advancing at approx 20m/24hrs so around 4yrs if a single tunnel.

This is best announcement for renewables ever.

What they're proposing is a monstrous battery.

It's way easier to add solar and wind to the mix when it is connected to a battery.

    This id potentially a gamechanger.

There is a lot of planning work to be done before they turn the first sod.... An announcement doesn't mean a project.

Get in quick and buy up Khankoban, Tumut and everything else - sell up two years into the project.

What gets me is the way Turnbull struts around in the HiVis vest & hard hat, like his a real man ready for the tools, and makes out like it's HIS fastastic idea?

Seriously! Some poor smuck whose prob mentioned it down a pub in Albury area has prob mentioned it to someone, whose mentioned it to someone else, overtime eventually overheard by a public servent, who's mentioned it at work, eventually made its way to a minister (u get my drift) eventually ending up with someone telling Turnbull, is sitting in front of his old TV eating his budget snaggers & mash tonight going hey that's what I said to Davo down the pub.

Pollies are puppets hamming it up for the media
