    Hey all,

After a rough estimate of what I would be up for to build a road and connect services to three - five lots.

Road is 50m long and 15m wide, the services would all be connected along it.

Any recommendations to companies to use in the Hunter Valley?

    Regards,
    Arc

I would suggest $100m for the road as a ballpark. Obviously the topography, amount of earthworks etc will have a big impact

    Hi mate,

After just 50m, not 50km which I'm assuming you meant.

The quoted figure was $2100m2 so looking at about 150k which is exxy.

Anyone got better hook ups around the Newcastle area?

    Regards,
    Arc

    Have a chat with Burtons

They've got offices in Beresfield (have known them going back to the early days).

Sorry I meant $100 per square metre not $100mil!

So $75k. Half of your quote. I haven't built a road but have worked in civil and it was just a half educated guess.

    Good luck

Would that figure include footpaths, drains, road marking? Would street lighting need to be included?

    I really dont know tbh.

I figure stormwater drainage would be included.

I've emailed Burton's as suggested above about an itemised quote.

Did you send the plans, spec & council DA conditions?

This really depends on the earthworks component. And if you have to bring in material because your sub-base material doesn't achieve compaction.

$100/sqm is a good starting point and would include drainage (just soakwells) and kerbing and 40-50mm thick bitumen. This is a Perth price, so YMMV.

Council will tell you the approved contractors as they dont allow just anyone to do their roads. Earth works to cut, fill and even retain, road, kerbs, telco, electrical, sewer, water and recycled water and drainage and ******ing basins, curbing and splays (depending on council) and footpaths and lighting poles, signs and markings are all part of the spec.

Company I worked with did civils and its huge money. Tens of thousands a metre depending on roadwidth and estate size. Burtons did some of it but they tend to do quite big estates, Other was Robson Civil. Cover Gosford to Hunter

Used Robsons in the past too. Forgotten all about them it was that long ago.
