Wow! Great news for the vendors.
Though I must be missing something here. A full reno on top of $1.1 + stamp duty; surely there's better value to be had elsewhere

Hi, what questions do you have? I was looking there a few months ago.

Wow - didnt realise Stockton had sale prices like this https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-stockton-136084042

Sub 400m block, architectural home but maybe not the nicest design ever in my subjective opinion. Interior is V nice i guess and being so close to the beach I suppose yard space is less of a concern.

Thoughts on that area gentrifying? Getting the shops and other infrastructure in place.

Looks the market is still rising, when will the bad government do something to stop this?

That sale was forever ago in real estate terms. Barely get a run down renovators delight for that here now.

Was "discovered" as a desirable suburb around 3-4 years ago ... the Balmain of Newcastle. Nowhere is more than 5 blocks to the beach, has every basic shop you would desire, from an of iga to butcher to vet to pathology to bank to florist to barber to doctor and dozens more, a 5 minute ferry ride to the CBD with theatre, dining and work and and 15 minutes to the airport.

Still a lot of elderly, pensioner residents, in original homes, so will only gentrify further as they move on ... however ... appears the suburb will retain its community cottage flavour

Loving the discussion since becoming a Novacastrian 3 years ago. The market is certainly pumping up here. We’ll be selling our Manly unit soon and throwing more of those Sydney dollars on the fire.
Not sure if this one was mentioned previously but did this break any records?

I believe it is the highest price ever paid for a house in Newcastle

Seen a couple prices that seemed to have dropped off from a few weeks ago, however anything on a nice street that is somewhat renovated still looks to be getting strong interest.

A couple flips have hit the market this week that I'll be interested to see how they fare from when they were purchased. With the aesthetic of them I would imagine both below will do pretty well.

... and I stand correct as they're now getting snapped up within a week of coming on the open market

This one knocked me over as I remember it sold at auction for $2m in Feb 2021.

Just sold again for around $2.4m over the weekend ... what the??!
