Hey, a very warm welcome! Do you want to say a bit more about yourself and where you've been investing, future plans etc? Then people can chip in. Up to you?

thanks for the welcome. have been a landlord for 11 yrs (though grew up with parents with investment properties in sydney), am 52 and looking to build income replacement - love lecturing in finance at university level, but wanting to get on to the next phase of more sailing and less teaching. have properties in tweed, coffs, amidale and cremorne but trying to build proper income replacement. have a good broker, currently looking in se qld for good NET yield (some councils are out of control!). hope that helps you work out where im at and any wisdom most welcome. j

Yep, council and insurance (and body corp if applicable) are quite pricey in SEQ!

Your best bet is to spend a day reading the SA threads to get an understanding first, then reach out to the people who contribute the most for more specifics.

    Where to Buy enjoy :p

Hi OzDr. Yes rates and insurance are high in Logan. Yields have dropped recently as prices have been slowly climbing for some time now. There were some great buys in Logan from some members here. 7-8+% yields were possible not too long ago.
If you're looking for a CF play, Adelaide has some very enticing options. Speak with @D.T. He is the resident expert on Adelaide metro.

@Xenia is also very knowledgeable and knows the market in Adelaide very well. She's been operating there for 10-plus years and has a wealth of experience. She's helped me out with property issues.

    Mine was in medical science

A PhD in finance would be very cool.
So would a PhD in law, no one would be able to argue with you.

Just had a look, is Elizabeth metro? Looks like it's a fair way out on the map.
