Assumption every one buying for investment rather than to live.

Our first and for many people was a place to call home.

Lol do you own apartments in Parramatta? I would never advise someone, especially a FHB, to buy a property when pretty much all signs point to those types/locations falling in value in the very near future. Even if you're buying it to live in, what will happen if you need to sell it for any reason? You don't need to make money but you sure as hell don't want to be losing many thousands of dollars.

These areas on the outskirts only go up in a boom as part of a ripple effect when FOMO starts to take hold - they will be the first to drop when panic selling happens. You only need one person in your apartment building to not be able to afford their mortgage and sell it for a bargain for your own purchase to fall in value to a similar level.

Parramatta is not the outskirts ?

What are you leaving the 1940s

Maybe stick with Canberra because you obviously don't understand where Parramatta is.

I was living in Sydney last year. For the purposes of an apartment, it is not in the best location and I'd never buy one to live in over there. I have no issue with living in apartments generally and have done so several times.

It could be a good buy if it was cheap (actually cheap, not Sydney "cheap") but it still seems overpriced to me. I'm pretty sure that prices will fall in that area. I can't think of too many places where an apartment almost 30kms from the city centre sells for over half a million and people think it's a good price. And yes, I'm aware there are some jobs there but there's probably a similar number in Belconnen in Canberra and you could get a house within 2kms of it for that price.
