Yes definitely after this experience. We never had any issue over the past five years so never gave it any thought and the PM has never come across this before.

Fwiw, the cooktop does clearly say "Induction" on top of the glass, though I can appreciate that would be meaningless to someone who has never heard of these types of cooktops - perhaps assuming that induction is the brand.

@chooke it's only a matter of time before we get the next major drama posted from these tenants. I'd be crossing your fingers and toes that I'm wrong.

I agree to continue to discuss but then you can reach a point where you just cannot change the people, what then?
    As my mentor JR said,
"Good people are found not changed. Recently I read a headline that said, “We don’t teach people to be nice. We simply hire nice people.” Wow! What a clever short cut."
I gave one agent 12 chances to fix challenges but eventually had to change the agent, I just realized I cannot constantly manage my agent and that person is costing me time, money and worst of all is working against me rather than with me!

It's been a while so I thought I'd give an update.
Well, nothing to really update. The PM offered the tenants a couple of those steel disc converters a few weeks back. The tenants replied that they will think about it but we never heard back from them. No writ to attend the magistrates court either.

They've bought steel cookware in the meantime but don't want you to know that they backed down, I reckon.

I reckon they phoned WAcat and were informed that they were ****heads and that will cost $xxx to lodge a hearing.

And so they pulled their proverbial heads in and hung up the phone.

The Magistrates Court of WA don't go into giving legal advice and the lodgement fee is only $71 actually.

Thought I'd update this year old thread.

A month or so before the lease expired the tenants requested another 12 months lease. My PM and I debated whether we would or not as earlier on it was inconceivable given all the drama, that they would stay - not that we would want them to stay on...

Anyway after chewing the fat for a while I decided to agree to a further 12 months given they pay their rent on time and generally keep the property well maintained.

But it is one for the books. Looks like the induction cooktop is no longer a nightmare for them!

Firstly it's good to see a follow up post in these forums rather than an OP who immediately disappears. Thanks!

Secondly I do not remeber seeing this thread but looking back it sounds familiar to a drama a landlord friend had renting her ppor out to tenants when she moved state.
She basically door knocked on the 'problem tenants' while in the area on unrelated business.
It turns out that the problem was the PM and not the landlord or tenants. Each was being spun one side of a chosen story of the incompetent/lazy PM that was rather convincing until both met.

Maybe have been a factor here? Either way it sounds like it worked out for the better.
