    Hi all,

I recently got the interiors of an IP painted. It's been a month and a half, and there is already some paint peeling on the bathroom, toilet and laundry ceilings.

How common is this, and should I get the painter to come back and fix it for free?

I would definitely get him back, assuming he did the preparation as well as the painting?

Poor prep...And all are wet areas. What type of paint ? Waterbased low sheen ?

Was the painted a trade licensed painter ? Unusual if they are.

Yes if its only been a month i'd have them return.

Also being wet areas, its likely steam has helped this along - is there adequate ventilation there?

Welcome to workmanship of the 21st century.

There was a time when things were done right first time and having a legacy of satisfied customers was a matter of pride. No more. Now, the number of cowboys, sharks and incompetent tradies grossly outnumber the bona fide craftsmen. Finding the latter is like striking gold.

I wouldn't be surprised if your painter pulled out all the caveats stop you ask him to come back (for free) citing ventilation issues, you did this/that etc.
